Ahhh, there’s a certain morning light lately… have you noticed? It lingers just a little longer.
Like the air itself seems to whisper, “we made it.”
We’re in that magical doorway of spring, the energy of renewal.
This is the season often honored as Ostara, a celebration of balance, fertility, and new life. And whether or not you use that word, your body knows. The Earth beneath your feet definitely knows.
I’ve chosen to live as closely in rhythm with nature as I can.
Not yet in a barefoot-in-the-woods-24/7 kind of way…”yet” being the key word!
For me there’s something incredibly supportive about not having to force my own timing,
but instead letting the Earth set the pace.
Winter asks me to slow down.
Spring gently nudges me to begin again.
Summer invites expansion.
Autumn teaches me to let go - time and time again.
One of the simplest ways I connect to this, is at the start of my day. Before the phone, before the noise, before the to-do list starts barking orders - I step into the forest. I’m very blessed that outside my door is a beautiful forest and river.
Here my body remembers it belongs to something larger. As if the tiny, invisible parts of me, the cellular, energetic parts, they start to reorganize around calm instead of rush. Every time I leave the forest, I’m realigned. Â
There’s no productivity hack here. Just the most beautiful connection to our Mother Earth. This practice has become a non-negotiable for me. She’s always there, steady and waiting.
April 22 is Earth Day, and April is often called Earth Month. Which isn't an ask to “do more,”
rather an invitation to remember.
‍
To remember that caring for yourself and caring for the Earth are not separate things.
So if you’re feeling the pull, here are a few small, very human ways to honor both:
- Step outside first thing in the morning and take 3 slow breaths. Be fully present. (bonus points if you don’t have phone in hand or pocket)
- Touch something living - a tree, a plant, the earth - actually feel it and breathe with it.
- Open a window instead of reaching for distraction. Let the air move through you.
- Say thank you. Out loud if you want. (Yes, it might feel a little weird. Who cares, it works.)
- Notice what is naturally wanting to begin in your life right now… and give it just a little space.
You don’t need perfect rituals or special tools. You just need to remember that you are not separate from any of it. You are nature and you are part of this turning, blooming world.
So my friend, what are you doing this season to reunite with yourself, the Earth - and to come back to the
connection between the two,
…which never really left?
