As we move toward the Summer Solstice, I've been reflecting on the rhythm of seasons - not just in nature, but within ourselves.
The Summer Solstice is a celebration of light, growth, vitality, and abundance. Everywhere we look, nature is expressing herself fully. Gardens are blooming. Trees are lush. The earth feels alive with possibility!
And yet, all of this began long before summer arrived.
The blossoms we admire today were forming unseen beneath the surface months ago.
I've been feeling that truth deeply in my own life.
Over the last few weeks, I've witnessed an incredible season of personal growth: my workshops all filled, the Moon Circles sold out, and the retreat filled more quickly than I ever anticipated. So much so, that I'm now considering offering a second retreat.
Many people see all that and think, "Wow, things are really working for Jennifer."
But what they don't see is the winter.
The quiet months.
The planning.
The questioning.
The inner work.
The moments when I kept showing up without immediate evidence that anything was growing.
The days when the work was invisible.
The moments of wondering whether what I was creating would truly land in the hearts of the people it was meant for.
Like nature, I was wintering.
Not dormant or stuck.
Simply gathering strength beneath the surface.
And now, as summer approaches, I can feel the energy shifting.
Ideas arrive more quickly and creativity feels alive.
Opportunities seem to flow with less effort.
I used believed abundance was something you chased.
These days, I'm experiencing it differently.
Abundance isn't about doing more.
Abundance naturally emerges when we honor the season we are in.
When we allow ourselves to actually rest during periods of rest.
To heal during periods of healing and to grow during periods of growth.
It’s rather evident that nature doesn't force the bloom.
She prepares for it.
And when the conditions are right, life unfolds.
I've been sharing this message quite a bit with recent graduates. It's such an exciting season of life, but it's also a time when comparison can sneak in so easily.
When everyone seems to be moving in different directions, reaching milestones at different times, it's easy to wonder if you're behind or if you're doing enough.
The peony doesn't rush because the lilac bloomed first.
The oak tree doesn't panic because the wildflowers arrived earlier.
Everyone unfolds in their own timing.
As we approach the Solstice, I invite you to reflect on your own season.
What have you been tending that no one else sees?
What roots have been growing unseen, beneath the surface?
And where might life be asking you to trust that your season of blooming is arriving in its own perfect time?
✦ Honor the roots as much as the blossoms ✦
