The Wisdom of Nature: Syncing with the Cycles

If you know me, you probably know how much I live in rhythm with Mother Earth and her cycles. For 20+ years, I’ve been honoring these seasonal shifts with my community - and each passing year, the practice grows more meaningful, more beautiful, and more personal. I love sharing with others just how deeply connected we are to the rhythms of the Earth.

Every culture throughout history has looked to the seasons for guidance. The earth, sun, and moon move in rhythms, and for thousands of years, humans lived in step with them. The Fall Equinox is one of those natural markers, an invitation to pause, reflect, and reset.

We are cyclical beings. Our energy, emotions, creativity, and our need for rest follow patterns - yet modern life often teaches us to ignore them. But when we remember that we are not separate from nature, but part of her, we begin to see the wisdom in syncing our lives with these cycles.

Why Does This Matter?
Our bodies and minds are not designed for constant output or endless doing. We thrive when we live in rhythm with the world around us—expanding in the spring, energizing in the summer, slowing in the fall, and resting in the winter.

Think of it this way: if the moon is powerful enough to move oceans and create tides, of course we, who are largely made of water, also feel its effects. The same is true for the turning of the seasons. While we may live in climate-controlled houses and work under fluorescent lights, our biology and emotions still respond to the natural world.

Every being on this planet is affected by these rhythms—
whether we choose to acknowledge it or not.

Fall’s Unique Invitation
During autumn, nature demonstrates the wisdom of release. Trees let go of their leaves not in despair, but in preparation - making space for rest and renewal. Animals adjust their behaviors to conserve energy and gather resources. We are offered the same choice: to slow down, reflect, and prepare for a quieter season, or to push against the current. It’s when we fight against nature’s rhythm, pushing for endless productivity and ignoring the signals of our body and heart, the imbalance shows up physically and emotionally.

The Fall Equinox is an invitation to pause, breathe, and find balance within ourselves, just as the Earth does. It’s a reminder that life isn’t meant to be lived in one endless season.

This is exactly what we’ll be exploring together in my Fall Equinox Ceremony.  A chance to honor the season, reconnect with the cycles of nature, and align more fully with the flow of life.
