Evidence That Humanity Is Still Beautiful

This week, I found myself noticing beauty in all kinds of unexpected places.

After one of my classes, I watched a student stay behind to help another wash her mat.

Nobody asked her to.

There wasn't any fanfare around it.

Just one person helping another.

It was such a simple thing, but it stuck with me.

As the week went on, I kept noticing these little moments.

A stranger holding a door.

A bird tirelessly building a nest, twig by twig

Someone patiently caring for an elderly parent.

The courage it takes to start over when life doesn't go as planned.

The first sip of tea before the world wakes up.

None of these moments would make the evening news.

Many people would probably pass right by them.

But they matter.

Sometimes it can feel like the world is heavy. We always hear about what's broken, and what's frightening.

And yet, every single day, there are people showing up with kindness.

There are people caring, helping, trying again, loving well, and doing their best.

There is beauty and kindness everywhere.

Yoga has taught me that the sacred isn't reserved for mountaintops, retreats, or profound spiritual experiences.

It's right here in every day life.

In a helping hand.

In a moment of patience.

In a shared smile.

In the simple awareness that this moment is enough.

The sacred isn't somewhere else.

It's right here.

The question isn't whether beauty exists.
The question is: Are we looking?

This week, I invite you to notice one beautiful thing each day.

Just something that reminds you goodness is still alive and well in this world.

I have a feeling you'll find more than you expect.

With love,

Jennifer
